The
real evidence of the lack of literacy in Indonesian society is that
many netizens just read the title of a news story and digest it raw
without bothering to read the caption or search for the truth of the
news by doing literacy. Many steps are taken to lift literacy in
Indonesia.
Literacy
is one of the absolute skills that must be had in the 21st century.
Critical thinking is one of the 21st-century skills.
Reading
literacy is defined as the individual’s capacity to understand, use,
reflect, and be fully steeped in written texts to achieve ideals, develop
knowledge and potential, and participate in society.
Mathematical
literacy is defined as an individual capacity to portray, use, and
interpret the science of mathematics in a wide variety of contexts.
Mathematical literacy includes mathematical logic and the use of
concepts, procedures, facts, and mathematical devices to describe,
decompose, and estimate a phenomenon.
Science
literacy is defined as an individual’s knowledge of devoting attention
to science-related topics and the idea of science as a form of
individual reflection. A science-literate person will always devote his
attention to the logical debate about science and technology that
requires competence to explain a phenomenon scientifically, evaluate and
design scientific questions, and interpret data and evidence.
Literacy
is the ability to use a variety of skills in life. There are 6 basic literacy skills: reading literacy, numerical literacy, science literacy,
financial literacy, digital literacy, and cultural literacy and
citizenship.
Literacy is not only reading but also other basic skills. We have to participate in how to raise literacy in Indonesia.
