Dear friend, how are you today? I hope you'll be okay. While writing this, I honestly remembered the times when I secretly cried looking at Zauji, who was sitting on the green carpet wearing his favorite blue shirt. A smiley, picture-pilled shirt on his neck. It was unimaginable that one day I would share my experience of retinal ablation surgery.

The tear of the retina in the right eye caused Zauji to suddenly lose half his vision. Of course, you know, the retina is a thin layer on the deepest part of the eyeball that serves as a point of vision. Ablatio of the retina means the retina in the right eye of Zauji is released so that the retina lacks oxygen, which causes Zauji's vision to disappear.

Ablatio Surgery Retina
Surgery became the only way to 'stick' the retina that was already released. Retinal ablation can be treated with vitrectomies, namely vitreous gel (eye-clear body), and replaced by injecting gas bubbles or silicon oil as a retinal restraint to remain in position. When the gas injection is done, the gas bubble will disappear over time and be replaced by natural eye fluid, while the use of silicon is only allowed for 3-6 months and then must be evacuated or removed.
Another method to 'stick' the retina is to install scleral buckling, which is a silicone belt on the sclera (the white of the eye). Silicon will bring the eyeball wall closer to the retina so that the retina returns to its original position. If the retinal ablation is very severe, the silicon will be installed in a permanent eye but will not block vision.
What about the usual days we passed together with our beloved ‘old’ bike?
How will we get through the days until old age without being able to look at each other again?
What about our ambition to see the Kaaba the next year?
How?
How?
How?
And a million, how else?
I began to imagine Zaji could not do anything as usual. In the past, I always protested when Zauji forbade me to remove the gray hair on my head. I don't want him to see him. I was also embarrassed if he saw cellulite carvings on my body or a wrinkle that began to appear on my face and my panda eyes that began to be unremoved. Now I hope that Zauji can look back with his eyes at all the flaws in my body that he always praised all the time.
OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)
Not felt, the operation lasted up to seven times. From silicon installation with the lightest viscosity (1300 cST), scleral buckling installation, and CF6 gas injection to HD silicon (megad silicone that has viscosity > 5000 cSt). No fewer than four retinal subspecialists, two subspecialty doctors in glaucoma, and one cataract subspecialist doctor who accompanied Zauji for almost 3 years. The waiting room of the Cicendo Hospital clinic is our friend. Timol and Glaucen are friends who keep Zauji's eyeball pressure stable at <24.| Eye Drops Drops Eye Pressure: Timol |
We know that healing belongs to God alone. God’s will is our goal. However, our efforts, if God does not want them, will not happen. There is no power except the power of God that will restore healing to Zauji.
Maximum effort and be grateful in every situation. Thank goodness for the cool thing.

Although
now medically, Zauji’s right eye is ‘difficult to save,’ but
Zauji’s condition is not as bad as we imagined. Zauji can still move as
usual even though he is no longer able to ride a motorcycle at night.
Nothing has changed except for the gratitude we always offer every time.
The thing that Zauji always says is, "Why should we always focus on the favors of the right eye that do not exist, even though there are many other blessings that God gives us?" the blessing of the left eye, the blessing of breathing, the blessing of gathering with the family, and more blessings of faith.
Thank goodness for the kulli thing. Praise be to God in every situation.
Sadness sometimes exists. And I hope that no friend of mine is feeling it either. A letter to this friend I present this friend for you. I know there are still many of my best friends who are now struggling and sharing the experience of retinal ablation surgery. And maybe we've never met. But my prayers, God willing, will always be there for you.

Retinal Ablation Surgery Results
Perhaps the results of retinal ablation surgery were not as good as we expected. However, Zauji is still on my side. What more pleasure do I deny? We can still do a lot of things together and enjoy the time and everything as it used to be.Thank goodness for the kulli thing. Praise be to God in every situation.
