Final Retina Ablation Surgery Experience Part 8

Post a Comment

Retinal ablation is a condition of detachment of the retina, or the mesh membrane, from its original position that can cause permanent blindness because the retina lacks oxygen and nutrients. No less than seven surgeries to help attach the retina of Zauji’s right eye have passed. The experience of retinal ablation surgery in Cicendo Hospital Bandung not only sends us to the subspecialist part of the retina but also to other parts.

By the 3rd month after the seventh post-surgery, the position of the retina is still not fully recovered; there is still a wet part, so it is feared that the retina will be released again when the HD oxane is evacuated in the near future.

In the fourth month after the seventh post-surge, Zauji's eyeball pressure reached 40. Prof. Arief S. Kartasamita, dr., SpM (K), M.Kes., M.Phd., provides a reference for consultation with the subspecialty of glaucoma. The pressure of the eyeball rises due to the buildup of fluid that could be due to the presence of silicon in the eye that is too long.

Glaucoma Parts

Subspecialist doctor of glaucoma, Dr. Maula Rifada, SpM(K), suggested channel manufacturing operations to remove fluids in order to reduce eyeball pressure, which is certainly dangerous. As per the schedule of the regular clinic of BPJS, we re-shomed with the glaucoma section. Based on the notes listed and medically recorded, the doctor gave the same recommendation, which is surgery.

Different from the usual procedure, this time the preoperative examination is carried out directly on that day also without having to wait for the H-3 operation. We also returned to routine checks such as lab checks (including PCR), X-rays (this is not necessary because the X-ray in June 2020 is still valid), consultation in the internal medicine section, and anesthesia.

In the evening, we went back to the glaucoma clinic. The doctor gave ±2 weeks

We returned the next day, and Alhamdulillah, we had the opportunity to meet again with Dr. Maula. He understood our condition and concern. Provide another alternative that is the action of a relatively lighter laser, and insha God, it can lower the pressure of the eyeball.

However, it is not much different from surgery pipe creation; this laser action must still be done when the eyes are ‘clear’ of silicon, so even though Prof. Arief plans to delay the evacuation of silicon for as long as possible, conditions like this are inevitable.

If you want eyeball pressure to drop with laser action, then silicone evacuation must be done, but if the silicone evacuation is carried out, the possibility that the retina has not been perfectly attached can still occur.

I can feel the anxiety and reluctance of Zauji because of the worry about the condition of the retina if it turns out not to stick perfectly.

Timol and Glaucen Eye Drops

The doctor also gave us time to think and give eye-lowering drugs in addition to timol, namely glaucoma eye drops. And we are scheduled to return for consultation on Monday.

Timol Eye Drops

Return home with all sorts of flavors that can't be spelled out. Zauji reminded me that the first effort to make is the effort of the sky. Everything belongs to God, and God is the one who will cure all the diseases we feel. We can only endeavor maximum treatment in the best hospital and with the best doctor.

On Monday, we returned to Cicendo Hospital. The results of the visus stated that Zauji's eye pressure was in the bottom 20. Praise be to Allah, the Most Merciful of All, including our eyes.

Because Zauji is a retina patient, we return to the retinal clinic. The results of the examination with the head doctor stated that the delay of the operation was granted. This is certainly very relieving.

Next, we have to go back to routine control in glaucoma clinics to ensure eye pressure remains stable. At the Cicendo Hospital Pavilion clinic, we met with Dr. Andika Prahasta, SpM(K), M. Kes, a senior subspecialist doctor of glaucoma, for ± 2 months we consulted. After the pressure of the eyeball was relatively stable in the 20s range, we returned to the subspecialist part of the retina.

Despite feeling tired of all affairs during the experience of retinal detachment, we still hope there is a cure for Zauji’s right eye. Allah is the One Who Is In The Hold Of All. All efforts, including efforts with further examination to check the condition of the retina, insyaallah, we will take.
