Vacation during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Taking a long vacation in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic is not an easy thing. Because conditions are still not safe to travel far and wide in crowds, we look for other alternatives to drive away boredom. This week we agreed to try out 10 beautiful spots for Rengganis Crater, Ciwidey, and South Bandung, which were our choices because they are relatively close.

As usual, we left early in the morning. The weather in Bandung was slightly cloudy that morning. It was still morning when we arrived at Ciwidey Square. Don't forget to have breakfast first to fill our stomachs. We stopped at a small shop that sells kupat know. This stall is located on the left, just before the turn towards Ciwidey Square. 

After filling our stomachs, we continued our journey. Purpose: We are in the White Crater area because, as a Bandung person, I have never visited there. However, because the entrance ticket is enough instead (entry ticket Rp. 100 thousand and transportation costs to the location Rp. 25 thousand), we too reversed.

Rengganis Crater

Since it was impossible to go straight back home, we pulled over when he saw a meatball cart not far from the White Crater gate. Seller Bakso directs us to a more affordable tourist spot, Rengganis Crater.

We continued our journey under the cloudy sky. Approximately 30 minutes later, we arrived at the location (Rengganis Crater is located not far from Situ Patenggang, Ciwidey, one of the favorite tourist areas in the south of Bandung). Rengganis Crater is on the left side of the road. No boards, just a big sign that marks the direction of the road to the Rengganis crater area. Crater Rengganis can only be reached by motorcycle.

For Menong's friends who brought cars, large vehicles can only be parked on the side of the road. It is not advisable to bring children or the elderly because even though it is far from the main road to the crater area, it is not too far, but Menong's friends have to travel through a rocky road that is not too wide, uphill, and winding.

Rengganis Crater Beautiful Spot

Rengganis Crater is still managed simply. Arrive at the motorcycle parking area, which is quite large; we went down through the non-stoned steps, which were too steep. Only a few meters away, we arrived at the edge of the crater. There is not an entrance ticket post like a tourist spot; there are only tables with a few officers who regulate antian so that visitors keep their distance and wear face masks. The entrance ticket is 'saridona,' alias voluntary.

 

Although everything is not well organized, the Rengganis crater has beautiful scenery and is pristine. 10 beautiful spots of the Rengganis crater spoil the eye. The heat source from underground and behind the rocks is limited by a safety fence. Many visitors have swum in several artificial pools. Some visitors who soaked in the mud claimed to cure several diseases. For Menong friends who will mud bathe, they have to pay again Rp. 5000.

Hot water bath

Visitors can roll out mats, alias botram, while enjoying food and drink. We just walked around occasionally taking photos, and we didn't spend much time there because before 10.00 WIB there were many coming visitors.

It feels like the Rengganis crater can be an alternative for Bolangers who miss hot springs but don't have to worry about crowds of visitors.
