From
a young age, my mother was very fond of sewing. This hobby will be a
profession that you have been in until now. Not only sewing clothes,
Mother also pioneered the sewing equipment store that he still pursues
until now.
It
is said that he has been good at sewing clothes since he was in
elementary school. The shirt made of curtain cloth became his first
work. Grandparents and Grandparents themselves support the interests and
talents of Mother by sending her daughter to a special school, namely
the First Family Welfare School (SKKP), equivalent to junior high school
and high school. The major chosen by the
mother is, of course, majoring in Clothing Attachment.
Additional
formal knowledge makes Mother begin to dare to open a sewing service.
This effort is what continues to be pursued by the mother until she is married. The profession that Mother has played until now.
Sewing becomes the focus of Mother to support us and send our children to the level of scholars.
Cut Off Mode
Menong
Modeste is the name of the mother's sewing business. This name is
derived from the name of her first daughter, me. Businesses run in this
house have quite a lot of customers, especially in Ramadan.
It's
incomplete to be scattered without a new shirt. In the past, of course,
sewing clothes specifically for the tailor became commonplace. In these
moments, Mothermarema, or ‘potent crowd.’
Starting
from receiving stitches, Mother developed this business by developing a
complete sewing tool stall that was still difficult to find.
The sewing equipment store, precisely the stalls, because of the area that is not
much, has been pioneered since decades ago when we were children.
This
sewing stall is located in the garage of Embah House, which happens to
be not used because it does not have a vehicle. Having survived from the 80’s
until now, I honestly salute the management of sewing stalls that are
still counted as traditional management only.
However,
over time, Mom equips this stall with obras, neci, services to make
buttonholes, buttons, furing, and various sewing tools such as yarn,
restleting, buttons, and others available in Mother's small stalls.
Although she moved places several times, the world seemed to be attached to the
life of Mother. Now many people call my mother Bu Obras.
To ensure the availability of sewing tools, you often invite me and my sister to shop at the sewing supply store in Bandung.
This
sewing supply store is widely available in the area of Bandung Square,
precisely the area of Jalan Otto Iskandardinata and Jalan Cibadak. For most of it, this sewing supply store still exists.
When
I was a kid, the moment of taking your mother shopping became a fun
moment because usually you would also invite us to snack, like enjoying
the famous whipping noodles on Jalan Cibadak. Usually we choose the
morning so that the streets and the atmosphere are not crowded. Most
stores are open from Monday to Saturday except for shops that are closed
every Saturday and Sunday. The store opened around 10 a.m. and closed
at 5 p.m.
What are the stores that are my mother’s subscription? Yuks, let's see!
Sewing Equipment Store
Tokyo Shop
The
store is located on Jl. Otto Iskandar Dinata No. 21, Karanganyar, Kec.
Astaanyar, Bandung, West Java 40241. It is not far from the intersection
of Dalem Kaum Street. The Tokyo store is small in size, so Menong's
friends cannot be aware of the existence of this store.
Mother
used to buy yarn and zippers in this store. Menong's friends simply
mention what items will be purchased to the waiters who lined neatly
behind the storefront. Some items are in the storefront, so we can choose
and point them directly. Some items are in the warehouse, so we have to
wait patiently for the waiter to pick up the goods we will buy.
To
facilitate the selection of goods, you usually have prepared a list of
items to be purchased. The list of thread colors that have been
purchased is usually quite written based on the number only. This number
is on the back of the yarn packaging except for black or white (white).
The color of the yarn that you have never bought is usually included
with the example of the fabric or the color of the yarn in question.
The list of restaurant purchases should be written based on the size of the length (in cm or inches). As with yarn, weaving that has never been bought by the mother is usually included with the example of the fabric or color in question.
There
are three types of wristlets that you used to buy: regular wristlets,
Japanese wristlets, and jacket wristlets. In addition to threads and
platelets, you also buy a variety of needles (sewing needles, obras
needles, or neci needles in various sizes, 11–18), obras yarn, or neci
yarn that is usually purchased in a set of as many as 3 pieces.
I
myself often buy personal items in the form of small pins that are
cheaper because they are purchased in large quantities. For some reason,
this thing always disappears when needed.
Once
done, the cashier section will check back each order, and the waiter
double-checks the item based on the receipt of the payment.
Suryamas Shop
This
store is on Jl. Cibadak No. 33, Karanganyar, Kec. Astanaanyar, Bandung,
West Java 40241. This store is located not far from the seller of the
mother's subscription shake noodles, where we rest after shopping.
In this store, you used to shop for various buttons and decorations, such as embroidery threads, ribbons, bisban, and others.
Shop 1001
The
1001 store is located on Jl. Cibadak No. 17, Karanganyar, Kec.
Astaanyar, Bandung, West Java 40241. This shop is the next choice of
Mother to shop for buttons, lace, and more.
Shop Blessings
The
Baked or Blessing Shop Jaya Textile is located on Jalan Tamim, 63 Kav.
A-1, Jl. Tamim No. 63 Kav. A-1, Kebon Jeruk, Andir, Bandung City, West
Java 40181. Jalan Tamim itself is on the right side of the area of Pasar
Baru Trade Center Bandung. In this store, you used to shop for various
furs (Asahi and Errow) that can be purchased per meter or per roll
(Urleb 6 meters).
Zauji
and I also began to relearn the names and prices of goods in the stalls.
One of my desires is to capture every moment in the form of notes or videos,
including making one of the social media accounts, @tokoalatjahit, a sewing equipment store that is still managing until now.
