How to Save Umrah for Parents

Post a Comment

Every Muslim must have the goal of fulfilling the fifth pillar of Islam, namely Hajj or Umrah. Except for me and Zauji. Not only that, of course, we all want to share happiness with the people we love the most, namely parents. Cost is almost certainly an obstacle. So how do we save for our parents and ourselves? Yuks, take a peek at the tips!

Strong Intent

Since high school, I have had aspirations to register as soon as possible and go to the holy land. To be honest, I was ‘cabita’ aka tempted, by my cousin, who had started saving since the 90s, when the first Islamic bank was established. Thank God my cousin finally performed the first Hajj in 2010, in his mid-30s.

The feeling grew more and more excited when I met a brother or friend who was going to go to the holy land. The month of Dhulhijah is a month of sadness for me when I have to take relatives or cross paths with the group of pilgrims or just see it on the screen.

Conscious of not being from a family, of course I have to work harder to gather pennies for the sake of sen in order to achieve my ideals.

And it turns out, the thing we have to instill first is the intention of the umrah, or strong Hajj. Intention is not only pronounced orally but also evidenced by real, aka 'executed,' direct action, including finding out how to save for umroh for our parents and ourselves and the list of parents and ourselves in travel umroh/Hajj that is trusted as soon as possible.

the Umrah Crossout Fund

Early in 2012, one of my close friends took me to Umrah together plus a walk to Turkey. Ow, what a lucrative offer! With just 17 million, you can already taste the cold air of Europe. Unfortunately, at that time my finances were still memorabilia, so it could not be used for other purposes.

It is to use Umrah bailout funds. Yak, at that time there were many sharia banks that offered bailout funds for Hajj and Umrah (and of course resulted in a surge in the queue of pilgrimage). After asking here and there, it turns out that the risk that must be borne is very large.

First, of course, the difference between the bailing funds obtained with the loan money that must be paid is quite large (e.g., the bail is $20 million, the loan money that must be paid is $25 million). The process is not easy; there are some files that must be known to the office. Hmmm, I think I'm less serious when my plan is heralded tout first.

Second and foremost, if God wills my death to arrive at the holy land, this bailing debt will still be paid. Who should pay? Surely our heirs (in this case, my mother and sister). Ahh, I don’t think I can’t bear to ‘go’ by leaving such a burden.

Finally, I decided to no longer force myself to leave at the beginning of that year. And as it turns out, my decision was supported by many people.

If the finances are still insufficient, in fact we are still not obliged to perform Hajj or Umrah. Saving becomes a way to realize goals.

Gold Savings or Money

Alhamdulillah, in the middle of 2012, I had the opportunity to continue my studies on a scholarship. At this point, I intend to have to do Umrah when I graduate from school later. Armed with a scholarship that is not much, I started saving in the form of gold. Having no love of jewelry, I started glancing at precious metals. At that time I was interested in dinars and started looking for information about dinars and dirhams. 1 antam dinar coin is equivalent to 4.25 grams of 22-carat gold for a 2 million kurleb.

This information I get from a Twitter account that updates the price of dinar coins and dirhams every day. For one coin, a fee of 10 rb (nah, this is what I do not understand the reason for because when selling, this 10 rb money does not return).

From the experience of collecting dinars, gold savings are only effective when Menong friends keep it for more than 3 years, when there is an increase in price per gram. Because if it only stores for a matter of months, there is a possibility that the price decreases. As I experienced, the selling price reaches 1.7 million, so that, of course, is the loss in terms of value.

In addition, I only dare to sell dinars to the original seller because not all gold outlets receive them at the appropriate price. For people who do not have other deposits, saving for Umrah for parents and individuals like this feels less effective. My advice: for short-term purposes, saving in the form of money is the most appropriate way.

Determined to set aside 2 million rupiah every month, I really tightened the belt in the true sense. No more snacks, salons, or buying any items. Spending is limited to home fares—campuses and lunch rations.

I also asked for the pleasure of my mother for a while but could not give her monthly money. Even with my two dear nephews, who sometimes ask, "Why now?" when walking, I can no longer ask for this snack.

Umrah List

It never got in the slightest if I was going to set foot earlier than the original plan, 6 months before I finished my studies. Moreover, not only the Holy Land but also the mainland of Europe my dream. 5 months after saving dinar, I finally ventured to register for Umrah. The travel I chose was a trip that was used when my close friend was on umroh at the beginning of 2012. This trip we have surveyed earlier, by comparing prices and services with other travel, as well as the official permission status of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

In the city of Bandung, this trip includes low-budget travel. The cost is relatively cheaper when compared to other travel. At the beginning of 2013, when other trips set regular umrah at around 20 million, our choice of travel was still around 15 jt.

If Menong friends are interested, prepare mentally first to receive simple facilities such as 3-star hotels and consumption that is not luxurious and excessive. For me and my close friends, this is not a problem because in everyday life we live in simple conditions. The most important thing is to see the Kaaba as soon as possible.

The Kaaba

Armed with 10 million rupiah, I am rounded with a regular Umrah list. Qodarullah, at the place of registration I met with Mrs. Ros, my neighbor as a child. He then persuaded me to take  a package of Umrah plus Turkey that could be reached for a curleb cost of 19 million.

At first I refused because the money was messed up, and I would not be able to provide another 9 million within 7 months (not including the cost of Jakarta-Bandung PP, passport, mahrom letter, personal umroh equipment, and provisions). But Mrs. Ros cheered and said,
Asking God, the Rich, and Allah will bring wealth from whatever door He will.
By saying "basmallah," I finally registered myself.

Finally departing

Arrived at the month of repayment. By then the dollar began to rise which automatically meant the cost of Umrah swelled to 11 million. I also asked for time because the money had not been collected. Alhamdulillah, Allah provides a way for unexpected sustenance that the amount is equivalent to the cost that I have to pay off and still remain for the provision later (I only bring 1.2 million that I spend in Turkey for 600rb and in Makkah-Madinah for 300 rb).

Only 2 pieces of white shirts, thick jackets, scarves, and kupluks that I buy at low prices. The rest I get from my relatives and friends, either new or no longer used. I also set aside money for lunch as long as my mother stayed.

In January 2014, Alhamdulillah, I finally arrived also in the holy land (and Turkey) with a blue, heartwarming story.

And surely many have questioned why I didn't put my mother first to hurry to go to Umrah.

From what I learned, prioritizing the person in terms of worship and everything that aims to get closer to Allah SWT is more advisable than putting others first.

How To Save Effectively

And how much do I save after Umrah? Zero Rupiah
So how do I save for Umrah for parents that I have intended before when I only have scholarships and salaries that I will certainly use for routine needs the next month?

Thank God, one month later I got a pretty big pay raise. The next two months, added with my mother's savings, I registered my mother on the same trip for the January 2015 departure. There are still 8 months left; with God’s permission, I went back to the steps that had been played.

At the end of October 2014, I drained all my savings to pay the cost of Mother's Umrah.

How much do I save in November? Only limited to a salary that I will certainly use for living expenses for the next month.

However, it turns out that God replaces everything easily. Alhamdulillah, on the morning of January 25, 2015, I drove my mother to make a Havoy, and at noon, I applied for a 12-year wait list.

A few months later, in mid-2015, I joined the order to register my aunt to also leave for Umrah with the same travel. A year later, we were finally able to renovate our small house to make it more comfortable for your mother to live in. Zauji and his mother finally got a portion of Hajj a few years later.

Look, where did I get that much money from? I don’t know and don’t understand how, in a short time, the savings that were zero were re-collected again and again in fantastic amounts. It counts human mathematics miraculously and will never be imagined in my mind. God gave me many opportunities that were impossible.

And is that how long my life is lacking? Alhamdulillah, even though we do not have a private house and still ride a favorite motorcycle everywhere, until now we have never lacked anything. Mother and Zauji are now in the best condition. In fact, we can still travel together to just heal. 😘

So, how do I save Umrah for your parents?
Be assured that God will always facilitate the intentions of His servants, especially if we intend to be birrul walidain (do good to parents)
Have strong intentions, start making money savings (short-term) and gold (long-term), and register as soon as possible because no one can guarantee whether our age reaches our plans or not.

Here’s how to save Umrah for the easiest parents I’ve ever experienced. There is no need for abundant treasures, and there is no need for many reasons to delay. God will make things easier. Aamiin
