Umrah, Experience in Medina

Maybe I have dreamed of carrying out Umrah since I was still in high school. And I never imagined that one day I would finally be able to set foot on God's earth, which everyone longs for. The experience of Umrah in Medina is a memorable experience that is imprinted in the heart.

It felt like home.

Like home—maybe that can describe my feelings when I first set foot in this second holy city after Mecca. Medina Al Munawarah is the home of the Prophet. The plains are surrounded by mountains and hills that have many virtues and names that are pinned on them, including An Najiyah, Al Mubarakah, Al Majinnah, Al Marzuqah, Asy Syafiya, Al Mahfufah, Al Marhmah, Al Qudsiyah, Darul Hijrah, and Al Jabirah.

"Indeed, it was Ibrahim who made Mecca a holy city, and I made Medina a holy city." (HR. Muslim).

Medina, formerly known as Yathrib, is located in the center of western Saudi Arabia, 430 km north of Mecca. Medina has a desert climate with temperatures ranging from 30 to 45°C in summer and average temperatures ranging from 10 to 25°C.

In this city there is the Prophet's Mosque, one of the main mosques for Muslims after the Haram Mosque in Makkah and the Aqsa Mosque in Palestine. The Prophet's Mosque is the second mosque built by the Prophet after the Quba Mosque. On the east side of the Nabawi mosque, there is the Prophet's dining room, while the room on the side of the mosque is the raudha, which is located between the pulpit and the Prophet's room. Raudhah is a place that has priority, as the Prophet said:

"Between my house and my pulpit is a garden of gardens of paradise, and my pulpit (in the future) will be over my lake." (Narrated by At Tirmidhi)

Stepping into this city full of blessings and goodness is like walking longing for our master, the Prophet Muhammad. Every corner is a witness to how this city has a special place in the hearts of every Muslim.

Ah, we miss you, O Messenger of Allah.
It always feels like home with you.

I want to repeat the Umrah experience in Medina. May Allah give ease.
