Snorkeling on Tidung Island in the Thousand Islands, Jakarta

For Menong friends who like marine tourism, Tidung Island can be the right choice. Tidung Island is located in the Thousand Islands Regency, DKI Jakarta, so it is relatively close to Menong's friends around West Java. It doesn't take long to explore Tidung Island; a minimum of 1 night and 2 days is enough to explore the beauty of snorkeling on Tidung Island in the Thousand Islands, Jakarta.

Towards Tidung Island

There are two alternatives to Tidung Island. The first option is via Marina Ancol by using a speedboat. This option is relatively more expensive because it provides more comfortable crossing facilities.

The second option is a choice that is often taken by tourists with limited funds, namely through the Muara Angke port. Crossings are available starting at 06.00 WIB. Maybe it's a bit uncomfortable because you have to go through a fish market that smells bad, and the condition of the ship is crowded with passengers.

The journey from the port of Muara Angke to Tidung Island takes 2 hours. A journey that is not felt because we can enjoy the trip by chatting or listening to music. If you are lucky enough to sit near the door, passengers can sit on the side of the ship so they can enjoy the sea atmosphere firsthand.

Bicycle

When we arrive at Tidung Island, we can rent bicycles or motorbike tricycles to take us to the accommodation. No need to worry about tiring distances when using a bicycle because the Tidung Island area is not too big, so it can be reached only by cycling. (But still prepare your energy... especially for Menong friends who are not used to cycling like me. 😵)

Tidung Island Marine Tourism is community-based, so there are no large hotels on Tidung Island. Simple lodging scattered in residential areas. Tour guide services can make it easier for us to arrange activities while on Tidung Island so we don't have to bother looking for lodging or renting snorkeling equipment on Tidung Island.

Love Bridge

Activities that can be done on Tidung Island include cycling around the island, snorkeling, diving, water games (banana boat, canoe, jetski), barbecue parties, fun cycling around the island, and walking along the 100 m long bridge that connects Tidung Besar Island and Tidung Kecil Island, which is called the Bridge of Love. If you have the guts, we can jump from the bridge with a height of 5-7 meters depending on the tides.

Tidung Island offers natural beauty that is a pity to miss. Especially if we like photography. Beautiful beaches, blue sea, mangrove areas, stunning marine life, and exotic views are worth enjoying. Even with an underwater camera, snorkeling is an experience on Tidung Island. And don't forget to take the time to dive so that it can be immortalized. If we are lucky, we can meet dolphins.
