At first, I didn't realize that Sorong, West Papua, which I was visiting,
was the provincial capital of the district I most wanted to visit in
this country, Raja Ampat. From small talk to seriousness, one of my
colleagues offered me to take a one-day trip one day before we go home.
Because without a plan, I didn't have any special clothes prepared for this one-day trip. I was only going to wear a set of clothes to take a walk in the
city of Sorong, sandals—wearing khaki socks, of course—for 10,000 silver plus photochromic glasses. A bit salty compared to the group friends who are ready in casual clothes—the men are ready in their snorkeling costumes—but in fact it turns out that the 'mall-style' costume is more instagrammable 😍
Star Well
After enjoying the beauty of Piaynemo, the second destination is Telaga Bintang. If you climb the stairs
at Piaynemo, you are only taking one breath at a time, so prepare for
extra energy at Telaga Bintang. Unlike Piaynemo, the stairs at Telaga
Bintang are made of naturally formed stones with an irregular
arrangement flanked by sharp and pointed natural stones. Stairs can
only be passed by one person without a handrail in the left hand.
So... concentration is sure.
It's
not wrong that Telaga Bintang is a favorite destination. Its shape,
which is like a pentagonal star with water reflections dominated by
green and blue, really refreshes the eyes. But still be careful, Menong's friend, a narrow place flanked by high cliffs filled with sharp rocks; our selfies will be worthless if we ignore safety.
Sauwandarek village
The next destination is snorkeling at Sauwandarek. Too bad, this time I missed the opportunity to enjoy
coral reefs and exotic underwater ornamental fish. While waiting for
the others to have fun, I explored this seaside village alone. There's
not much to see, but again, the beautiful white sandy beach with rows of
coconut trees seems to be calling me to just say hello.
Sometimes small children accompany me to look for beetles or crabs.Raised Sand
One other destination that should not be missed is travelling in Raja Ampat, Pasir Timbul on Mansuar Island. Pasir Timbul is one of
the wonders in Raja Ampat, which only exists during low tide. When the
ship docks, we can immediately jump into the small 'island' that just
appears in the middle of the ocean. A wide expanse can be used as a
background for taking pictures, of course.
Towards sunset, it's time to return to Sorong City while enjoying the beautiful sunset on the way home. Menong's friend who has plans to go to Raja Ampat, don't forget to be physically fit. It is recommended not to have your period in the early days because land toilets can only be found at the homestay and the Piaynemo, even though the speedboat has a simple toilet. A comfortable outfit, diligently smearing sunblock when you don't want your skin to get tan due to sunburn, and an HP Plus power bank with full battery strength.
No
need for pocket money, as there are no souvenir shops in Raja Ampat. Satisfy both the eyes and the heart to gaze at the amazing
beauty of God's creation.
Alhamdulillah...what
other blessings of God will be denied? Finally, I was able to enjoy the
beauty of nature and get a million experiences on a one-day trip to Raja
Ampat.
