Years ago, a name in eastern Indonesia, Raja Ampat, was just a dream that was hard to come true. How much does it cost to get there?? The cost of the plane is the cheapest, around 6 million PP. Of course it's just a dream for an ordinary employee like me.
Well, but suddenly... Raja Ampat is just one step away from our eyes. This is the experience of a one-day trip to Raja Ampat that I will share with all Menong friends.
At
first, I didn't realize that Sorong, West Papua, which I was visiting,
was the provincial capital of the district I most wanted to visit in
this country, Raja Ampat. From small talk to seriousness, one of my
colleagues offered me to take a one-day trip one day before we go home.
After
persuading several friends, I finally decided to go alone. Cost is
quite expensive to be the main reason. After asking permission from
Mother, I was determined to register.
Because without a plan, I didn't have any special clothes prepared for this one-day trip. I was only going to wear a set of clothes to take a walk in the
city of Sorong: flip-flops, khaki socks, and, of course, 10,000
silver plus photochromic glasses. A little salty compared to the group
friends who are ready in casual clothes, the men are ready with their
snorkeling costumes, but in fact it turns out that the 'mall-style'
costume is more instagrammable ๐
Raja Ampat
Only ± 2 hours away by speedboat from Sorong Pier, Raja Ampat is no longer a dream. Even though the
price of this trip is exorbitant in my version, after draining all the
official travel pocket money plus don't compare prices in Papua vs. Java, when compared to the price of 20 million per person charged to
foreign tourists, this trip is really worth taking.

Get ready to dock at Sorong pier |
All points were reached with great difficulty: the fear of seasickness, the steps that seemed higher than Bromo's 'Love' Hill, climbing steep cliffs, the hot sun, and being alone without friends because I was tucked into a one-day trip group from a ministry. It really paid off when my cellphone screen was decorated with dozens of Instagrammable views.
The
sea is blue and clear with fish on coral reefs that are no less
beautiful, so it's no mistake that Raja Ampat is nicknamed "The Ultimate Pristine Paradise in West Papua."

The scenery on the way is just as beautiful as this |
With
its extraordinary beauty, it's no wonder Raja Ampat is a famous marine
tourism destination for foreign countries. Raja Ampat itself is a
district in West Papua Province that has 610 islands, including the Raja
Ampat archipelago.
One-Day Trip
In this one-day trip, there are 4 spots that are visited by speedboat, starting from the Piaynemo karst area with views of its famous cluster
of islands, lunch at the Piaynemo Homestay, Star Lake, snorkeling,
enjoying the coral reefs in Sauwandarek, and setting your feet on the
embossed sand, the expanse of sand in the middle of the sea that only
appears when the sea recedes. What a journey! ๐
In general, the speedboat has been ready since 07.30 WIT at the pier and returns at sunset. The
cost of this trip includes lunch (with a menu that is quite
appetizing), snacks plus soft drinks, and snorkeling equipment rental.
Piaynemo
Piaynemo is the first destination on this trip. Yes, Piaynemo is a Raja Ampat icon. Prepare physically to start this exciting trip. Thank God...because I'm used to doing a little yoga
every morning...my breath doesn't stop, and I shrink when I see a row of
wooden steps that are quite steep.

Welcome to Piaynemo |
And waaahh... suddenly this tiredness has been erased and replaced by the beautiful scenery that we could only see on the internet before. There are two spots to take pictures in Piaynemo, both of which, of course, show a spectacular view of the Piaynemo icon. Of course, in the midst of the excitement of taking pictures, don't forget that other people are also lining up waiting for their turn to take the same opportunity.

Prepare extra energy for these steep stairs. ๐ |
When returning to the speedboat, Menong's friend can quench his thirst with young coconut water, which is relatively cheap—only 15 thousand rupiah. If interested, Bolangers can buy VCO (virgin coconut oil) oil or just sit and chat with friendly and smiling locals.

Piaynemo lunch
From Piaynemo, the trip continued to the homestay for lunch because the speedboat I was on was delayed from the schedule because I had to find fuel first. The homestay is not too far from the first spot. It seems that homestays are indeed a collection of small inns in the tourist area of Raja
Ampat. Rows of bamboo houses were neatly lined up. The atmosphere was
quite quiet when the residents left them to try out the beauty of Raja
Ampat.

The homestay itself is no less beautiful; the beautiful beach is right behind the homestay. There are many long tables and benches lined up, which are specifically provided as a place to eat in the mangrove forest area, which is decorated with colorful swimming fish, which adds to the beautiful atmosphere.
