In July 2018, I set foot on the island of Sumatra for the second time, this time in the capital of North Sumatra province, Medan. Famous as big city with a myriad of busyness, it turns out Medan holds its own attraction. Especially in the field of historical tourism, including being a princess for a day in Maimun Medan Palace.

History of the Sultanate of Deli

Maimun Palace, my first destination. Located not far from where we stayed, my friend and I decided to walk sambal and enjoy this beautiful afternoon in the Malay city of Deli.

Located on Jalan Brigjen Katamso No. 66, Maimun Palace is open every day from 08.00 to 17.00 WIB. Maimun Palace invited Menong’s friends to get to know the icon of this city of Medan. Dominated with yellow, this wide palace of ± 2,722 m² has architecture typical of the culture of Islam in Europe.

Yellow itself has a distinctive meaning in Malay and is the color of the greatness of the kingdom of Deli. Arch (arcade) on The part of the roof that resembles the best boat becomes the hallmark of Islamic buildings such as It’s a building in the Middle East.
The Sultan Singgasana

Welcomed by marble-plated stairs brought directly from Italy, Menong's friends can enjoy the room directly full of furniture and the typical decoration of the palace. Each room has its own function, like the coronation of the king or receiving guests.

Posted on August 26, 1888, the palace has 2 floors, 30 rooms, and 3 parts: the master building of the king's throne and the right and left wings. This palace is a relic of the Sultanate of Deli established by Sultan Mahmoed Al Rashid Perkasa Alamsyah, who is a descendant of the 9 Sultanate of Deli.

Undeniably, the beauty of this palace is still radiated. Each detail and unique ornament feel refreshing to the eyes. In the main room, covering an area.

Taking pictures

Menong's friends can also rent the clothes of the Princess of the Sultanate of Deli during the visit to the museum and become a princess for a day at Maimun Medan Palace. For Rp. 60,000, Menong friends can choose colors and patterns that match the choice and take a walk around the palace while wearing the typical clothes of the sultan's daughter. Every corner of the palace can be a friend of Menong; make a spot for taking pictures.

Outside the palace, stretching a fairly The area and place to buy souvenirs. This field is often used for various events. In the courtyard of the palace there is a pointing cannon that, according to the story, is the incarnate green princess as the palace guard of the invasion of the king of Aceh.

Interesting, yes, being a day's daughter in Maimun Medan Palace, even if it's only for an hour.
