This time we will share the story of the retinal ablation surgery experience that we have been going through for more than a year. A retinal ablation is a condition of detachment of the retina, or the membrane of the eye, from its original position that can cause permanent blindness because the retina lacks oxygen and nutrients. One of the causes of retinal detachment is a high minus, as Zauji has long had.
After
undergoing 7 surgeries, we do a routine to see a retinal subspecialist
doctor every month either at the regular clinic of BPJS or in the
pavilion clinic of Cicendo Bandung Hospital.
The results of the optical coherence tomography (OCT) examination previously showed a
decrease in the condition of the papilla. After a consultation, the doctor
stated that he would have made two months of observations to compare the
results of this month and the next two months. If there is a change in
the form of a significant decrease, it is certain that silicone octane
has a negative effect on the condition of the pupil.
Second OCT Examination
Two months later, we
said on the day of the second OCT examination. OCT, we will do it using
BPJS services. That’s why we went back to the regular clinic of BPJS on
schedule. Deliberately we scheduled the regular BPJS clinic on Tuesday.
So that if there are things we need to ask Prof. Dr. Arief Sjamsulaksan Kartasamita, Sp.M(K), M.Kes, MM, Ph.D, we can
find him on Wednesday at the pavilion clinic.
I’ve been signed up since 2. The previous month, we got a turn with the first order in the regular clinic of retinal poly.
The stage of COVID-19 screening is also done online by filling out the Google form. In order no. 1, we were allowed to enter the waiting room at exactly 07.00 WIB.
When we arrived at the retinal clinic, we immediately told the doctor that
we were required to conduct a second OCT examination based on the notes given by Prof. Arief.
As is the case
The first OCT examination—we can get the OCT results that day as well.
From the results of the OCT scan, as a layman, I can read that it happened due to the degree of papil conditions. And that’s the truth; the doctor justifies the difference
from the first OCT, but the head doctor (doctor consultant subspecialist retina)
doesn’t have to worry about that condition. The most important things are the post-surge of the seventh retinal ablation and the position of the retina that is still attached.
Eyeball Pressure
What we need to be aware of is the pressure of the eyeball that is backed up in the 40 position. The doctor is back to prescribe an eye pressure-lowering drug that is timol, which this time is equipped with glaucon, glaucons, aspar K, and eye vitamins at once.
Suddenly
I remember that a few days earlier Zauji complained about his sore right eye.
This is usually a sign of increased eye pressure. And as always, the use
of glaucons and aspar K will cause tingling that spreads in some parts
of the body, such as the hands, so that doctors suggest that Zauji
consume more potassium sources, such as bananas.
Explicitly,
the doctor calmed us down and suggested that two weeks
in the future we return to the BPJS regular clinic for control of eye
pressure conditions after the administration of eye drops while
replacing Zauji's glasses with a new size to make them more
comfortable.
We came back two weeks later. Alhamdulillah, eye pressure is back down in position 24. This time our goal is to go to the refractive clinic.
