Denver,
Bali. This week, I was again given the opportunity to re-foot on the
island dubbed the Islands of Paradise. Unlike the year 2017, which only
stayed for two nights and three days, this time I stayed for a long time,
that is, 10 days. On the island that became this favorite foreign tourist
destination, I became acquainted with halal meatballs in Denpasar, which
turned out to feel extraordinary.
Bali Island
The
island of Bali is one of the areas I really want to visit. In addition to
its specialty as a paradise island, I also really want to peddle my
feet to Sanur Beach that you and your mother visited in the late 70's.
Memories of both parents became an adhesive that seemed to call me to
immediately stop by.
In
2017, I got the first assignment to the island of Bali, which I welcomed
with enthusiasm because finally my dream was achieved. Arriving at I
Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport by Garuda plane, Badung Regency
became the first stopover, as well as attracting my heart to fall in love
with Bali more deeply.
Tracing
the rural area that is thick with the atmosphere wrapped in customs and
traditions, I was introduced to the original Balinese traditional house
and the wisdom of local residents who were friendly to my welcome. I
was invited to visit some famous tourist destinations with all the
unique Balinese peculiarities, such as the village of Panglipuran, Tukad Bangkung Bridge, and Sangeh tourist attraction, where I took pictures with the tame monkey that sat in my lap.
On the second day, we stayed in the city of Denpasar, adjacent to Sanur beach, Kuta beach and more beach We stopped by to enjoy seafood and satay lilit and buy souvenirs at Krisna's souvenir shop.
Alhamdulillah,
we stayed at a simple inn close to a field restaurant, making it easier
for us to choose halal food during our stay.
Halal Stall
As
is the case, on the first day when we traveled in Badung Regency, our
guides always directed us to stop by many Muslim special stalls along the
road to the place we went to. He also ensured that we got a halal menu
to be safe for us to consume. The easiest way is to look at the writing
on the usual stalls inscribed with Muslim stall, no pigs. Do not
hesitate to ask directly if the stall also sells food that is not halal,
like pigs.
In
Denpasar, the menu of spicy cuisine is limited because it is all
coconut milk, and spicy makes me look for another alternative, which is
looking for the nearest fast food that has been certified halal by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). An introduction to the hotel guards made me
get permission to borrow a motorcycle to just take a walk around the
city of Denpasar while hunting halal food around the city.
Halal Meatballs
On
my way to Bali this year, I was a little more prepared to bring a lot
of ‘ammunition’ from home so that I didn’t bother looking for halal
food. This time I stayed directly in the city of Denpasar, not far from
Lapang Puputan.
Alhamdulillah,
because of the strategic location, this time I am not so difficult to
find halal food. Many more options; we can order online only. Voila,
while walking in the morning, I found a meatball restaurant that has
been certified halal MUI, not far from the hotel where we stayed.
The
hot weather was quite pungent, and tired after a day of activity made us
choose to take a walk around the hotel. The main goal is to find the ‘meatballs’ that we had seen the day before.
And...taraaa...our
Supradinasty Meatballs we found right at the turn. There is one thing
that makes me interested in stopping by, which is the halal logo
installed in this meatball restaurant plan. I ended up stopping by
after the afternoon.
Soupradinasty meatballs
The
restaurant located on Jalan Kepundung No. 1 serves a simple menu with a
relatively affordable price, even for the size of the city of Denpasar.
To be honest, when we arrived in Denpasar, we enjoyed lunch at a field
restaurant. And when paying, there was a sense of surprise because the
cost for us six with the menu of each side divorced, such as rendang,
kikil, chicken, and tempeh plus warm oranges, is priced at Rp. 420
thousand. It is much more expensive for similar menus in Java.
Before
transacting, I used to ask the seller whether the food sold was
halal or not. Halal is defined as not only containing pork or alcohol (khmar)
but also not coming into contact with ingredients / tools containing
pork or non-shari'i slaughter, including using a skill-free snack,
cooking processed pigs, frying / smearing using pork oil, chickens or
cows slaughtered without mentioning the name of Allah, and others.
There
is no need to be embarrassed or reluctant to ask, because Indonesia has
a sense of plurality and high tolerance that respects the beliefs of
others very well. And the seller will kindly say whether the food we are
going to buy is halal or not. To be sure, Menong friends can choose
foods that have been certified halal MUI by checking whether there is a
halal logo listed or not.
Meatball Menu Supradinasty
Because
I was very hungry, I chose a complete menu: Supradinasty, containing
jumbo meatballs, siomay, tofu, basreng, dumplings, noodles, and spring
rolls. The waitress at the cash register with a friendly offer of meatballs or
chicken meatballs that I will choose. Since I love goulash meatballs,
meatballs are my choice. Only around Rp 22 thousand for one portion. It
is quite cheap when compared to the field cuisine that we bought one day
before.
My
own friend chose a smaller portion of mixed meatballs consisting of
three small meatballs, tofu, dumplings, and noodles. Warm oranges became
our complement menu that afternoon.
We
sat not far from the cash register table, a place that was quite
comfortable to enjoy a bowl of meatballs while chatting. Near the
cashier table, there are two freezers where the meatballs and other meat preparations are. All the products on display already have a MUI halal logo
that makes me more confident. In addition to various meatballs, Menong
friends can also choose coffee or other snacks.
Kepundung
branch of Supradinasty meatballs has a design with a minimalist bench
and table but is still comfortable and impressed clean. There is no live music because it seems like the concept carried by the Kepundung branch is just a regular restaurant.
Although I chose the jumbo meatball menu, the portion I got was not as 'jumbo' as I imagined. One large meatball,
siomay, tofu, basreng, dumplings, noodles, and spring rolls in one
regular bowl. It’s just that the bowl used is not a bowl of ‘chow’ as
it is generally used in the restaurant.
One
that became my note, the bowl used for the menu I chose felt less
comfortable because the structure was smaller at the bottom, so it was
difficult for me to scoop soup or gravy to the bottom. It seems impossible
if the determination to lift the bowl and sip the gravy so well, of
course, is not ethical. 😊
In
terms of taste, the menu we choose does not disappoint; even without
the need to add soy sauce, sauce, or sambal, the taste of the gravy
already tastes good and savory without flavoring. The jumbo meatballs
that I choose have a distinctive meatball taste as well as the taste of
meatballs in the city of Bandung. Touch the taste of modern meatballs
with the dominant texture of the meat. Likewise with siomay, tofu, basreng, dumplings, and noodles, all tasty without exception.
While
chatting, we ate the meatballs in an instant. Around us, there were many
visitors who came—not only two but also the group. The restaurant area
does not have too much bulkhead, which makes the condition not feel crowded
so that health protocols are still maintained. Some visitors, young and
middle-aged, are wearing clothes with Balinese models.
Supradinasty Bakso Branch
In
addition to Kepundung, Bakso Supidasty also opened branches elsewhere,
such as on Jalan Cok Agung Tresna and Jalan Tukad Yeh Aya. If Menong
friends choose to visit the Kepundung branch, make sure there is a
parking space available because the right location on the crowded turn makes it a
little difficult for us to find a parking space, as well as if
we come on foot, be careful when crossing because the average vehicle
goes at a moderate speed even though it is coming from the direction of the turn.
Bakso
Supradarast can be a choice for Menong's friends who are looking for
halal meatballs in Denpasar, Bali. In addition to the good taste and the
price not draining the wallet, the tasso supradinasty already has a
halal logo and many branches that Menong's friends choose. Supradinasty
meatball management also provides a hotline for criticism and advice on
082123521251. Yuks, stop by at the Supradarasty meatballs!
